Platysmaplasty, commonly known as a “neck lift”, is a surgical procedure that involves tightening or removing from the neck. People choose to have a neck lift when they feel that their skin is starting to loosen and sag, and it can be a good way of reinvigorating the skin whilst instilling new confidence in the body!
But to get the best results from your neck lift surgery in Sydney, it is important that you have the home fully prepped, just so you have a comfortable place to come back to when you need to be resting up!
Here are some important tips for preparing your house for your neck lift recovery period.
1. Remove Inhibiting Barriers
Your surgeon will advise that you get plenty of rest when recovering from your neck lift. A neck lift is performed under general anaesthesia, and you may feel a little woozy upon returning home – this is normal!
However, you don’t want anything stopping you from moving freely when you’re supposed to be relaxing, so remove any furniture or household items that may restrict your movement.
2. Prep a Comfy Space
Comfort is key when it comes to getting the rest you need to heal quickly. Therefore, it’s important that you create a space that you know you will be incredibly in. Your surgeon will suggest sleeping on your back with your head and neck elevated for a few weeks after your surgery, as this will be the most comfortable for you.
So, prepare a comfortable setup that you can get right into upon returning home from surgery.
3. Make Things Easy to Reach
You will have to get plenty of rest after your neck lift. This means not over-exerting yourself by reaching too high to grab things. So, place all your essentials at easily reachable places, and even set up a table near your resting spot with your devices, medications, water, food etc.
4. Ask a Friend Or Loved One to Help!
Whilst you’re resting up, especially in the first few days post-surgery, you should consider asking a friend or loved one to come and help you around the house. You will have to get a friend or loved one to help take you home after your procedure, so you should also consider asking them to help with preparing meals, cleaning the house and doing other little things around the home.
You will need a good few days of proper rest before you can start doing things on your own again – so don’t be afraid to ask for help!
5. Stock Up Early
You don’t want to find yourself in a position where you don’t have particular food or medication when you’re supposed to be taking it very easy. So, be sure to stock up on everything you need to help your recovery period before you go into surgery. Pick up all medications, healthy foods and whatever else you will need to help you in the recovery process – it’s important that you have them near you right when you need them!
6. Fill the Fridge With Healthy Food
This should be something everyone does in daily life, but it’s especially so when it comes to your pre and post-surgery diet. You need to eat as well as possible in this period, filling your fridge with nutritious fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and more healthy food and healthy products.
Just Prepare for a Few Days on the Couch!
You will need to take it (did we mention that already?) so just prepare yourself for a good couple of days of relaxing. It’s all part of recovering from a neck lift, and will help the healing process and assist in better results!
