Some people argue that each person has his own norm of emotions – an emotional peak. And a person needs to achieve it from time to time. Otherwise, a depressive state may occur.
This hormone is a mediator (biologically active substance) that enters the blood of a person who is under stress.
There was long-term research during which it was found that almost all tissues have adrenaline receptors – the so-called “points of application” of this mediator. Therefore, the reaction of the body to adrenaline is instantaneous. It appears in an increase in blood pressure, narrowing of blood vessels, an increase in heart rate, dilated pupils.
The effect of adrenaline lasts about five minutes. This is due to its rapid processing. Despite the short duration of this state, it causes very vivid emotions.
There is a subtype of adrenaline receptors, the launch of which leads to the breakdown of adipose tissue. This reaction is a special type of influence that serves to physiologically maintain optimal body weight. For this reason, emotional people tend to be thin.
One of all possible ways to induce an adrenaline rush on your own without putting yourself in danger is to simply get out of your comfort zone, do something new, meet new people, travel to an unfamiliar place. All these actions will contribute to an additional “splash” of energy in your body.
Another way to get an adrenaline rush is to expose yourself to “frightening” stimuli (watch a horror movie, ride a rollercoaster). However, be careful with getting a “portion” of adrenaline in order not to hurt yourself.
Extreme sports or roller coasters cause the brain to feel dizzy; a dangerous situation is created, leading to the release of adrenaline. As a result, we experience euphoria and excitement.
Why do some people need an adrenaline rush? Many people who experience symptoms of anxiety or stress look for ways to trigger an adrenaline rush. For example, they begin to drive at high speed in a car, which gives them a feeling of euphoria.
It is believed that the release of adrenaline instantly gives this feeling of euphoria, maximum energy and capacity for action, after which the person feels pleasantly relaxed.
Soon after the discovery of adrenaline, it was explored that it helps to restore cardiac activity. In the case of such diseases as asthma, adrenaline is used as a cure. Patients with signs of anaphylaxis require adrenaline as a first aid. Dentists get an injection of adrenaline into the gum along with an injection of a local anaesthetic, since adrenaline allows the vessels to hold the anaesthesia near the diseased tooth longer.
Despite the fact that the cure for anaphylactic shock is adrenaline, most modern hormone-based drugs have an improved formula. Adrenaline cannot be taken orally because it breaks down in the liver before it enters the bloodstream, but scientists have created chemical analogues of adrenaline that can be taken orally or inhaled if you have asthma. The hormone used for injection was originally produced from a huge amount of adrenal glands of bulls or sheep, but is now synthesised chemically. These injections are administered to restore cardiac activity.
Adrenaline is used in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. When a cardiac arrest occurs, it is widely used to start a person’s heartbeat and bring them back to life.
Thus, the hormone adrenaline plays an important role in the life of every person and is used in medicine, including life-saving.
